A powered towing vehicle having steering wheels and a wheeled trailer is connected to the vehicle for its towing. The wheels of the trailer are connected to a source of power for generating forward and rearward movement of the trailer. These wheels also are connected to a source of power for turning such wheels in order to steer the trailer. These wheels further are connected to a sensor to sense the position of the trailer wheels as they are being steered. The steering wheels of the towing vehicle also are connected to a sensor to sense the position of the vehicle wheels as they are being steered. The trailer steering wheel sensor is displayed to an operator of the vehicle so that the vehicle operator knows the relative position of each of the steering wheels. The trailer steering power source is connected to the vehicle so that an operator of the vehicle can remotely steer the wheels of the trailer. Alternatively, the towing vehicle and the wheeled trailer can be integrally formed into an articulated vehicle having a forward bogie having at least one axle assembly which is steerable and powered, and a rearward concatenated bogie having one axle assembly which is powered and steerable.
L'invention concerne une combinaison d'un véhicule tracteur motorisé (10), muni de roues directrices, et d'une remorque à roues (12), reliée au véhicule et tractée par celui-ci. Les roues (28) de la remorque sont reliées à une source motrice permettant à la remorque (12) d'avancer ou de reculer. Lesdites roues (28) sont également reliées à une source motrice permettant de les orienter pour diriger la remorque, ainsi qu'à un capteur (64) qui détermine la position des roues (28) de la remorque à mesure qu'on les braque. Les roues directrices (22) du véhicule tracteur (10) sont également reliées à un capteur (156) pour déterminer la position des roues du véhicule tracteur à mesure qu'on les braque. Les indications du capteur (64) des roues directionnelles de la remorque sont affichées face au conducteur du véhicule pour lui permettre de connaître la position relative de chacune des roues directrices. La source motrice assurant le braquage des roues de la remorque est reliée au véhicule, ce qui permet au conducteur du véhicule (10) de braquer à distance les roues (28) de la remorque. Selon une variante, le véhicule tracteur (10) et la remorque à roues (12) peuvent être intégrés pour former un véhicule articulé muni d'un bogie avant présentant au moins un ensemble essieu, motorisé et orientable, ainsi que d'un bogie couplé à l'arrière et muni d'un ensemble essieu motorisé et orientable.
