A combined heating and conveyor apparatus (1) for use in heating a bulk solid product, such as a food product, comprises a hollow channel member (5) having a base that forms a conveying surface along which product is to be moved, the channel member (5) having at least one entrance region and one discharge region, an actuator which in use causes the channel member (5) to vibrate in a manner which tends to cause product introduced to the channel at the entrance region to move towards the discharge region,- and characterised in that the channel member (5) functions as a microwave frequency closed waveguide, and a source of microwave radiation is connected to the channel member (5) in such a way that the microwave radiation propagates along the channel member and is substantially retained within the channel member whereby, in use, the energy in the mi-crowaves can be at least partially absorbed by the product that passes along the channel.
L'invention concerne un appareil comprenant un radiateur et un convoyeur combinés, l'appareil étant conçu pour être utilisé pour chauffer un produit en vrac solide, tel qu'un produit alimentaire. L'appareil comprend un élément de canal creux doté d'une base formant une surface de transport le long de laquelle le produit est déplacé, l'élément de canal comprenant au moins une région d'entrée et une région d'évacuation, et un actionneur qui, lors du fonctionnement, fait vibrer l'élément de canal de manière à entraîner le produit introduit dans le canal au niveau de la région d'entrée à se déplacer vers la région d'évacuation. L'appareil est caractérisé en ce que l'élément de canal fonctionne en tant que guide d'ondes fermé de fréquence de micro-ondes, et en ce qu'une source de rayonnement de micro-ondes est reliée à l'élément de canal de telle sorte que le rayonnement de micro-ondes se propage le long de l'élément de canal et soit sensiblement retenu à l'intérieur de l'élément de canal; ainsi, lors de l'utilisation, l'énergie présente dans les micro-ondes peut être au moins partiellement absorbée par le produit qui passe le long du canal.
