A composition comprising cartilage extract, grape seed extract and tomato extract was found to have remarkable anti-oxidant effectand free-radical inhibition. The composition which comprises a hydrophilic antioxidant, a lipophilic (hydrophobic) antioxidant, and a cartilage extract dramatically increases collagen synthesis in the dermis. Furthermore, the composition lowers collagenase activity and levels of advanced glycation end products (AGE). The signs of ageing, such as photoageing due to exposure to UV radiation, are related to the levels of collagen syntheses and free-radical oxidation. Compositions of the invention are intended for the treatment of ageing skin and the delaying of the onset of the signs of ageing in healthy skin.
L'invention concerne une composition renfermant des extrait de cartilage, de pépin de raisin et de tomate, présentant un effet antioxydant et une inhibition des radicaux libres remarquables. Cette composition, comprenant un antioxydant hydrophile, un antioxydant lipophile (hydrophobe), et un extrait de cartilage, permet d'augmenter sensiblement la synthèse de collagène au niveau du derme. De plus, cette composition permet de réduire l'activité collagénase et les taux de produits terminaux de glycation avancée (AGE). Les signes du vieillissement, tel que le photovieillissement dû à l'exposition au rayonnement UV, sont liés aux taux de synthèse de collagène et d'oxydation des radicaux libres. Les compositions de l'invention sont destinées au traitement du vieillissement de la peau et au retardement de l'apparition des signes du vieillissement dans une peau saine.
