The reaction canister for a passenger side airbag restraint system comprises a trough-like main body and a substan- tially cylindrical inflator housing which are extruded in one piece. The generant charge and igniter strips within the inflator housing are also extruded. The generant charge may be divided into active and inert segments to control the volume of gas produced upon ignition.
