A cable (10) for connecting a peripheral device to an input/output port configured in accordance with either a SCSI protocol or a parallel port protocol comprises a first connector (12) having a plurality of contact pins (1-25); a second connector (14) having a plurality of contact pins (1-25); and a plurality of twisted pairs (230-240) each having a first conductor (230-240) (a) and (b) a second conductor (230-240). The first conductor defining a data/control line, and the second conductor defining a return for the respective data/control line in accordance with the SCSI protocol. The first and second conductors of each of the twisted pairs are connected between selected pins of the first and second connectors such that none of the twisted pairs carries a data/control signal on both its first and second conductors when the cable is connected to an input/output port that is configured in accordance with the parallel port protocol.
Un câble (10), permettant de raccorder un périphérique à un port entrée/sortie configuré en fonction soit d'un protocole SCSI, soit d'un protocole de port parallèle, comprend un premier connecteur (12) pourvu d'une pluralité de broches de contact (1-25); un second connecteur (14) pourvu également d'une pluralité de broches de contact (1-25); et une pluralité de paires torsadées (230-240) possédant chacune (a) un premier conducteur (230-240) et (b) un second conducteur (230-240). Les premiers conducteurs forment une ligne données/commande, et les seconds conducteurs forment un retour de la ligne données/commande respective conformément au protocole SCSI. Les premier et second conducteurs de chacune des paires torsadées sont connectés entre des broches sélectionnées des premier et second connecteurs de sorte qu'aucune des paires torsadées n'achemine un signal données/commande sur ses premier et second conducteurs lorsque le câble est raccordé à un port entrée/sortie configuré en protocole selon le port parallèle.
