COMBINED SHUT-OFF VALVE AND PRESSURE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This relates to a combined shut-off valve and pressure booster for use in combination with a plasticiz- ing cylinder of an injection molding apparatus. The plasticizing barrel is provided with a tubular exten- sion in which there is formed one or more axial flow passages which extend between a barrel chamber and the customary discharge passage in a manner wherein there is no leakage and no dead spots for the accumulation of plastic material. Within the tubular extension there is a cylinder which is aligned with the discharge passage so that the discharge passage, in effect, forms an extension of the cylinder. Normally retracted within the cylinder is a combined shut-off valve member piston which, when advanced, extends transversely of the axial flow passage first to function as a shut-off valve and then enters into the discharge passage forcibly to engage plastic material therein to function as a pressure booster.
