APPLICANT: MARECK B.V. TITLE: COMBUSTION CHAMBER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A combustion chamber has a plurality of side chambers distributed about its centre. A partition wall, dividing the chamber into a first and a second chamber, is extended by wall portions which partly project into the side chambers and are attached to their side walls while leaving a through- flow opening at the end edge of the respective wall portion. The partition wall has stress concentration locations where it ruptures into narrow cracks during the first few starts, when heated to normal operational temperature, and when cooled during stopping. The partition wall is then free from stresses in subsequent operations of the apparatus.
