ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for improving combustion efficiency in a coal-fired furnace comprising injecting an additive composition comprising a ferrocene compound or its derivatives and an organic: carrier liquid in which the ferrocene or its derivatives is soluble, has a high flash point and is an injectable liquid at operating temperatures wherein the quantity of air introduced to the furnace is reduced to low NOx emissions with minimal increase in soot emissions.
