A combustion-powered tool (10) has an engine (14) and a heating system (30), where the tool receives and preheats a fuel cell (28). The fuel cell has a receiving portion (48) for a heat transfer element (32) which is associated with the engine. The heat transfer element is configured for engaging the fuel cell to conduct heat from the engine to the fuel cell.
