A method and apparatus for a command system is disclosed. Commands include variables that reflect the command's content appearance. This includes status information determinative of the command's state (enabled/disabled), its name, its associated graphic, and whether its appearance is currently valid. Each of these were initialized when the command was created. The invention creates a command including an object's data structure containing a command sequence. The command is added to a list of commands, and initialized as an invalid appearance. Later when the command is selected, the appearance state is recomputed based on the system state.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil destinés à un système de commandes. Les commandes comprennent des variables qui reflètent la représentation en cours des commandes. Ledit système de commandes contient des informations relatives à l'état déterminant l'état de la commande (validée/invalidée), son nom, son graphique asscocié, et indiquant si la représentation est toujours correcte. Toutes ces informations sont initialisées lors de la créatioe la commande. Le procédé selon l'invention permet de créer une commande comprenant une structure de données d'un objet contenant une séquence de commandes. la commande est rajoutée à une liste de commandes et initialisée en tant que représentation incorrecte. Ultérieurement, lorsque cette commande est sélectionnée, l'état de représentation est recalculé en fonction de l'état du système.
