ABSTRACT Disclosed is a comminutor installation having a rectiliner- shaped comminutor chamber with an inlet channel in flow communication with the comminutor chamber. A rotary drum comminutor is located in the chamber and has its center offset with respect to the geometric center of the chamber. A receiving channel is positioned under the comminutor to receive fluid passing vertically through the interior of the comminutor and an effluent channel is in flow communication with the receiving channel.
