Systems and methods are described for communications links with non-intrusive expansion capability. A first sputter combiner switches from a shut state to a bypass state when a second headend output is communicatively coupled to a first upstream input and a second headend input is communicatively coupled to a first downstream output. The first sputter combiner is then switchable back to the shut state from the bypass state when the either the second headend output is communicatively decoupled from the first upstream input or the second headend input is communicatively decoupled from the first downstream output. The systems and methods provide advantages because a communication network can be equipped for non-intrusive expansion of the network.

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés destinés à des réseaux de télécommunication. Elle concerne en particulier un dispositif comprenant une liaison de télécommunication équipée d'un séparateur-multiplexeur (splitter-combiner) communiquant avec une tête de bus. Ce séparateur-multiplexeur comprend un séparateur de signaux communiquant avec entrée de tête de bus et avec une sortie aval, et un multiplexeur de signaux communiquant avec le séparateur de signaux, avec une entrée amont et avec une sortie de tête de bus. Ces systèmes et de ces procédés offrent les avantages suivants : ils permettent de protéger au moins partiellement le réseau de télécommunication contre les pannes de l'équipement passif (p. ex. fibres optiques), les pannes de l'équipement actif (p. ex. unité d'insertion/extraction) et/ou d'équiper le réseau de manière à permettre une extension non intrusive de ce dernier.
