There is disclosed a method of transmitting data in a code division multiple access system, comprising the steps of outputting data blocks associated with a plurality of respective users in a plurality of corresponding data streams, the data blocks of each data stream being arranged in successive time frames of a constant, predetermined length; and multiplexing the data blocks on all the data streams for each given time frame. A communications system including circuitry for utilising such a method is also disclosed.
