A communication system including two communication apparatuses is improved such that the possibility that a third party decrypts the communication is reduced. A communication system includes first and second communication apparatuses, one of which encrypts data to be transmitted and transmits the encrypted data to the other communication apparatus, which receives and decrypts the encrypted data. Prior to the encryption, each communication apparatus divides the to-be-transmitted data every predetermined number of bits to generate to-be-transmitted divided data. At this moment, each communication apparatus varies the number of bits of the to-be-transmitted divided data, and mixes, into the to-be-transmitted divided data other than the one having the largest number of bits, dummy data having the same number of bits as the to-be-transmitted divided data having the largest number of bits.
