The communication device (12) includes a device (30) for determining a current position and a transceiver (20) for transmitting at least one of the determined current position and geographic identifier to the remote server (42). The communication device (12) further receives at least one of a geographic identifier and alert information relevant to the determined position from the server (42) and includes an output (34) for outputting alert information relevant to the determined position.
