A computer-implemented method for establishing alternating forms of communication between a customer and a vendor, comprising the steps of establishing a data-based connection between the customer and vendor; enabling the customer to elect to establish a voice-based connection with the vendor; acquiring voice-based connection information related to the vendor from a central server; disconnecting the data-based connection and establishing a voice-based connection between the customer and vendor utilizing the voice-based connection information; and upon termination of the voice-based connection, reestablishing the data-based connection.
