A gas spring (10) with a sealing and bearing assembly (12) received within a casing (14) of the gas spring adjacent to a rod (16) slidably received through the assembly (12) for axial reciprocation. The assembly (12) has an annular retaining ring (40) received within the casing (14), an annular bearing (70) with a throughbore through which the rod (16) reciprocates carried by the retaining ring (40), an annular retainer (80) carried by the retaining ring (40) downstream of the bearing (70), and a sealing member (90) received within the retaining ring (40) adjacent to the retainer (80) and in firm engagement with the rod (16) and retaining ring (40) to provide a gas-tight seal between the rod (16) and the retaining ring (40) to prevent the escape of gas from the gas spring (10). The retainer (80) preferably has a dovetail flange (86) extending therefrom and the sealing ring (90) has a complementarily shaped recess (92) molded or press-fit onto the flange (86) to attach the sealing ring (90) to the retainer (80).

Le dispositif (80) de retenue comprend de préférence une bride (86) à queue d'aronde qui part de ce dernier alors que la bague (90) d'étanchéité comporte un évidement (92) de forme complémentaire qui est moulé ou ajusté par pression sur la bride (86) pour fixer la bague (90) d'étanchéité sur le dispositif (80) de retenue.
