Disclosed is a compact helical compressor (1, 2) for mobile use is a vehicle. Said helical compressor (1, 2) comprises a helical compressor unit (1) that is driven by a motor unit. The rotational speed of the motor unit, which is allocated exclusively to the helical compressor unit (1), is adjustable in accordance with a control unit (8) in such a way that the helical compressor unit (1) generates compressed air at a predefined discharge rate that is independent of the drive unit (6) of the vehicle.
