There is disclosed a silencer for attenuating sound waves produced in a fluid that circulates through a fluid conveyer. The silencer comprises an expansion chamber that is in fluid communication with the fluid conveyer, and which carries sound waves there through; a sound wave dissipater provided with the expansion chamber and arranged to absorb sound waves traveling there through; a resonator operatively associated with the sound wave dissipater and constructed and arranged to cause attenuation and reflection of the sound waves back and forth towards the sound wave dissipater; the expansion chamber having a chamber : conveyer cross-sectional area ratio and chamber length characteristics allowing maximum transmission loss for a given frequency. The expansion chamber has an exit to allow fluid containing attenuated sound waves to escape therefrom.
La présente invention concerne un silencieux pour atténuer les ondes sonores émises par un fluide qui circule dans un transporteur de fluide. Le silencieux comprend une chambre d'expansion qui est en communication fluidique avec le transporteur de fluide et qui transporte les ondes sonores à travers un dissipateur d'ondes qui accompagne la chambre d'expansion, et qui est disposé de façon à absorber les ondes sonores qui le traversent; un résonateur est relié de façon opérationnelle avec le dissipateur d'ondes sonores, et est construit et disposé de façon à atténuer et à réfléchir les ondes sonores de manière alternative à travers le dissipateur d'ondes; la chambre d'expansion a un rapport de surface transversale au niveau du transporteur et des caractéristiques de longueur permettant de maximiser la perte de transmission pour une fréquence donnée. La chambre d'expansion comporte un orifice de sortie pour permettre au fluide contenant les ondes sonores atténuées de sortie de ladite chambre.
