A method, system and program product for com-paring two operands wherein one operand is obtained from mem-ory wherein the address of the memory operand is based an offset of the program counter rather than an explicitly defined address location. The offset is defined by an immediate field of the in-struction which is sign extended and is aligned as a halfword ad-dress when added to the value of the program counter.

L'invention concerne un procédé, un système et un produit-programme permettant de comparer deux opérandes. Un opérande est extrait d'une mémoire, l'adresse de l'opérande en mémoire étant basée sur un décalage du compteur de programme plutôt que sur un emplacement d'adresse explicitement définie. Le décalage est défini par un champ immédiat de l'instruction qui présente une répétition de signe et est aligné comme adresse de demi-mot lorsqu'il est ajouté à la valeur du compteur de programme.
