(8CN-8315) COMPATIBILIZED POLYPHENYLENE ETHER RESIN/NYLON RESIN BLENDS CONTAINING AROMATIC PHOSPHOROUS-CONTAINING COMPOUNDS ABSTRACT Compatibilized blends of polyphenylene ether resin and polyamide resin containing aromatic phosphorous-containing compounds are disclosed wherein the compatibilizing agent is selected from polycarboxylic acids and functionalized polyphenylene ether resins. The compositions may be rendered flame retardant when the composition is comprised of a phosphorous-containing compound in an amount sufficient to confer flame retardancy thereto. Reinforced compositions are also disclosed.
