ABSTRACT A lift compensator for the muzzle end of a gun barrel comprises a tubular element detachably mountable on a flash hider for the gun. The element is rotatably adjustable on the flash hider to various preselected positions and has vents and deflectors selectively cooperable at each posi- tion with different ports of the flash hider for utilizing gases discharged therefrom transversely of the barrel and for redirecting those gases to compensate for a particular angle of muzzle lift.
