ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is complex tolylene polyurea-thickened grease containing less than 7 parts per million 2,4-diaminotoluene and a process for making said grease comprising reacting an isocyanate, a polyamine and monoamine with a major portion of a lubricating oil and thereafter adding an alkaline earth metal oxide or hydroxide and a carboxylic acid anhydride containing 2 to 20 carbon atoms to said mixture and thereafter milling said mixture to the consistency of grease.
