-8- A slender pad for supporting portions of the human body contains a fluid layer within a flexible cover, permitting local accommodation of the pad in supporting relation with the body. In a preferred embodiment the fluid is a gas such as air, preferably contained within an impermeable sheath to permit at least local deformation of the sheath under localized loads. One use for the pad is asa wrist support for users of computer keyboards and the like, wherein the sensitivity of the pad in conforming with the form of the users wrist, serves toavoid the generation of localized pressure points, to thereby promote natural functioning of wrist in cooperation with the movements of the user's fingers on the keyboard. One construction of the subject pad incorporates air bubbles contained within a plastic sheath, having a cloth overlay in protective, conforming relation to preserve the flexibility of the pad surface while also protecting the plastic bubble sheath against undue wear. Also, an intermediate, highly flexible, thin load transfer layer such as foam plastic can be laminated to the bubble sheath. The shape of the pad plan profile may be conformed to the shape of the front edge of the respective keyboard, so that the pad can be positioned in closer proximity, for the convenience of the user. Adherent patches such as those trade marked "Velcro" may be provided, for attaching the pad to the keyboard.

En outre, une couche de transfert des charges mince, intermédiaire et très souple, telle qu'un plastique mousse, peut être plaquée sur la gaine à bulles. La forme du profil en plan du coussinet peut respecter la forme du bord avant du clavier respectif, de sorte que le coussinet peut être placé plus près du clavier pour le confort de l'utilisateur. Des bandes adhésives, telles que celles qui portent la marque de commerce «Velcro», peuvent être incluses pour fixer le coussinet au clavier.
