An ultrasound transducer having multiple focal zones is described. In one embodiment there is an ultrasound transducer manufactured as a single piece but having two or more focal zones. In a second embodiment there is a transducer assembly combining a high frequency and low frequency transducer. In a third embodiment there is an interchangeable assembly allowing for different ultrasound transducers to be used based on procedural needs. Variations of each embodiment are also disclosed.

L'invention concerne un transducteur à ultrasons qui comporte de multiples régions focales. Dans un premier mode de réalisation, un transducteur à ultrasons est conçu en une pièce munie toutefois d'une ou de plusieurs régions focales. Dans un deuxième mode de réalisation, un ensemble transducteur combine un transducteur haute fréquence et un transducteur basse fréquence. Dans un troisième mode de réalisation, un ensemble interchangeable permet d'utiliser différents transducteurs à ultrasons en fonction des besoins des actes médicaux. Des variations sont présentées pour chaque mode de réalisation.
