A composite acoustic building material having enhanced noise reduction characteristics. The material includes a generally solid central core of a substantially rigid acoustic material having sound dampening characteristics, and at least one upper and at least one lower relatively flat exterior layer. The central core is generally corrugated in nature and has an upper and a lower surface. At least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the core is of an undulating configuration. The upper and said lower exterior layers are positioned on opposite sides of the central core and fixed in a generally parallel configuration providing the composite building material with generally smooth and planar upper and lower exterior surfaces.
