A ceramic coating is formed on a conductive article by immersing a first anodic electrode, including the conductive article, in an electrolyte comprising an aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide and an alkali metal silicate, providing a second cathodic electrode in contact with the electrolyte, and passing an alternating current from a resonant power source through the first electrode and to the second electrode while maintaining the angle .phi. between the current and the voltage at zero degree, while maintaining the voltage within a predetermined range. The resulting ceramic coated article comprises a coating which includes a metal, silicon, and oxygen, wherein the silicon concentration increases in the direction from the article surface toward an outer surface of the ceramic coating surface layer.
Selon l'invention, un revêtement céramique est formé sur un article conducteur par immersion d'une première électrode anodique comprenant l'article conducteur dans un électrolyte contenant une solution aqueuse constituée d'hydroxyde de métal alcalin et d'un silicate de métal alcalin, par utilisation d'une seconde électrode cathodique mise en contact avec l'électrolyte et par passage d'un courant alternatif provenant d'une source d'alimentation résonnante à travers la première électrode et vers la seconde électrode tout en maintenant l'angle .phi. entre le courant et la tension à un degré zéro et tout en maintenant la tension dans une plage prédéterminée. L'article revêtu de céramique ainsi obtenu comprend un revêtement qui contient un métal, du silicium et de l'oxygène, la concentration en silicium augmentant dans le sens allant de la surface de l'article vers une surface extérieure de la couche de surface de revêtement céramique.
