ABSTRACT A composite article composed of a metal component and a vulcanized rubber component, additionally containing an adhesion-promoting polyamide layer. The article is prepared by coating the metal element with polyamide, preferably by powder coating process and then vulcanizing the rubber mixture in intimate contact with the polyamide-coated metal. The composite articles of the invention are used for industrial purposes, for example as rollers, seals or vibration dampers.
