COMPOSITE BUILDING ELEMENT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An insulated structural member for the frame of a building comprises two structural elements spaced by a layer of foamed polyurethane material. The struc- tural elements generally are constructed from wood in 2 x 8 or 2 x 6 sizes for conventional wood frame build- ing walls. The structural member can be manufactured by passing two elements between belts which confine the space between the elements so that the foam is injected from a feed end of the belts while the ele- ments are forwarded through the belts. A layer of paper can be applied by the belts to the sides of the ele- ments so as to confine the foam and prevent it adhe- ring to the belts.
