8SD-93 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a composite compact which is comprised of at least two polycrystalline layers of selected, self-bonded abrasive particles and bonded to and interleaved therewith, at least two cemented carbide masses. Suitable abrasive particles may be selected from among diamond, cubic boron nitride, and wurtzite boron nitride particles or mixtures of the foregoing. The novel compact provides improved fracture resistance.
