A composite floor covering product having a wearlayer comprised of an ultraviolet cured, solvent-free organosilicon composition. Suitable floor covering substrates include vinyl tile, resilient sheet vinyl and wood. The organosilicon compositions comprise silica and, optionally, further comprise silane, silicone and the like. A thin layer of the organosilicon composition is uniformly applied in the wet state over the surface of the floor covering substrate and then cured. Yellowing of the cured composition can be reduced by first incorporating an optical brightener in the wet organosilicon composition and/or by curing in a nitrogen atmosphere. Upon curing, a wearlayer is formed having exceptional resistance to staining, scuffing and scrubbing.
