A composite golf club adapted to impart safety and realism in golf game teaching and training, comprises a striking head comprising a rigid core made of a first hard material, a skin made of a second soft resilient material and covering portions of the core, and a shaft connected to said core, wherein at least a portion of the core is exposed at the surface of the striking head to define a striking area. The invention is further concerned with a method for making a composite golf club, the method comprising obtaining a rigid thermoplastic striking head core by injection molding, overmolding a soft elastomeric skin over the head core so to leave exposed portions of the core at the surface of the head, and connecting a shaft to the core.
