A structure comprising a composite laminate having an edge (8); and an impact indicator (9) which is carried by the edge (8) and comprises a resin which fractures upon impact. The fracture provides permanent visible evidence of impact damage, for instance by cracking or byone or more pieces breaking off from the impact indicator. As well as providing such visible evidence of impact damage, the impact indicator may alsoprovide an element of impact protection. Typically the impact indicator (9) is formed from a resin which is more brittle and less strong than the material forming the composite laminate. For instance the material forming the composite laminate may be reinforced, and the resin forming the impact indicator may be un-reinforced.

L'invention porte sur une structure comprenant un stratifié composite présentant un bord (8) ; et un indicateur d'impact (9) supporté par ledit bord (8) et formé d'une résine se rompant en cas d'impact. Cette rupture permet de disposer d'une preuve visible et permanente du dommage causé par l'impact, et peut être constituée par exemple par une fissure ou par le détachement d'un ou plusieurs éléments de l'indicateur d'impact. L'indicateur d'impact, en plus de la preuve visible d'un dommage dû à un impact qu'il permet de posséder, peut également permettre de disposer d'un élément de protection contre les impacts. L'indicateur d'impact (9) est habituellement constitué d'une résine plus cassante et plus fragile que le matériau formant le stratifié composite. Par exemple le matériau formant le stratifié composite peut être renforcé, et la résine formant l'indicateur d'impact peut être non renforcée.
