A B S T R A C T A composite material which includes a polyester resin as a matrix and comminuted expanded polyurethane, dispersed within the matrix. The composite material includes at least one fibrous re-inforcing material dispersed within the matrix. The fibrous material may be selected from-the group consisting in glass fibres, carbon fibres, polyamide fibres, cotton fibres and/or wool fibres. The composite material also includes at least one additive admixed with the resin, to impart desired properties to the composite material. The additive is selected from the group consisting in magnesium silicide, talc, graphite, carbon black, silica, "Alcolin", acid-resistant resinous material, a fire- retardant, thixotropic agent, and a pigment.
