A B S T R A C T A composite material containing hard metal particles is manufactured by vibrating a first sieve fraction of these particles in a mould for compacting purposes. Subsequently, a second sieve fraction (consisting of smaller particles than the first fraction) is added on top of the compacted mass of the first fraction and allowed to enter the interstices thereof by (horizontally) vibrating the mass. Finally, a molten binder is infiltrated in the mass, whereafter the mass is cooled.
