The invention relates to a composite material of formula: (C-N-B-MR)x(Al-MR)y(R)Z in which C-N-B-MR is one or more carbides, nitrides or borides of one or more refractory metals of group IV, V or VI of the Periodic Table and/or one or more aluminium carbides, nitrides or borides chosen from Al4C3, AlN, AlB2 and Al1-67B22; Al-MR is one or more aluminides of one or more of the above refractory metals, it being understood that: if MR = Nb, Ta, Hf, Zr, Ti or V, then Al-MR = Al3MR; if MR = W or Cr, then Al-MR = Al4MR; if MR = Mo, then Al-MR = Al8Mo3 or Al17Mo4 (? Al4Mo), and R is a residual component other than carbon, comprising one or more phases chosen from Al4C3, AlN, AlB2, Al1-67B22 and MRtAlu(C-N-B)v in which t, u and v are numbers greater than or equal to zero, and x, y and z are the volume fractions of the respective components with x > y; x + y > 0.5; x + y + z = 1 and 0.01 < y < 0.5. The invention is also aimed at the use of this composite material as a coating in a component that can be wetted by liquid aluminium and can be used in electrolysis cells.

L'invention vise un matériau composite de formule : (C-N-B-MR)x (AI-MR)y (R)z dans laquelle C-N-B-MR est un ou plusieurs carbures, nitrures ou borures du ou de métaux réfractaires de la série IV, V ou Vl du Tableau périodique et/ou un ou plusieurs carbures, nitrures ou borures d'aluminium choisis parmi Al4C3, AIN, AIB2,Al1- 67B22; AI-MR est un ou plusieurs aluminures du ou des métaux réfractaires énoncés précédemment, étant entendu que : si MR=Nb, Ta, Hf, Zr, Ti, V alors AI-MR= AI3MR; si MR=W, Cr alors AI-MR= AI4MR; si MR=Mo, alors AI-MR= AI8Mo3 ou AI17Mo4 (.congruent. AI4Mo) R est une composante résiduelle autre que le carbone comprenant une ou plusieurs phases parmi AI4C3, AIN, AIB2, AI1-67B22 et MRtAIu(C-N-B)V où t,u et v sont des nombres plus grands ou égal à zéro, et x, y, z sont les fractions volumiques des composantes respectives avec x > y; x + y> 0,5; x + y + z =1 et 0,01 < y < 0,5. L'invention vise aussi l'usage de ce matériau composite comme revêtement dans une composante mouillable par de l'aluminium liquide et utilisable dans des cellules d'électrolyse.
