ABSTRACT: Composite body consisting of two or more formed parts of densely sintered aluminium oxide and a metal, in particular an envelope for a mercury vapour discharge lamp with Metal halide filling. The parts are connected together with material which comprises at least two of the oxides SiO2, Al2O3 and B2O3 and at least one of the trivalent oxides La2O3 and Y2O3. This material is applied at a relatively low temperature and is resistant to the gas filling to approximately 1350°C.
