A unitary, insulated panel is provided for use in sectional doors and walls. The panel comprises opposed, spaced apart, parallel, inner and outer metal skins. The skins are mechanically interlocked along their top and bottom ends byintegral, inwardly projecting flanges having mutually engaged, hook-shaped terminal portions. The opposed flanges at each end are coplanar. The engaged hook-shaped terminal portions combine to form a longitudinally extending slot. The mouth of the slot is narrow relative to its bulbous inner portion. A strip of weather seal can be inserted longitudinally into the slot, for sealing purposes. Foamed polyurethane is formed in situ in the space between the skins. The polyurethane bonds to the skins. A rigid, strong panel unit is obtained by the combination ofmechanically interlocking the skins and bonding them with the core.

Cette invention concerne un panneau isolant composite destiné à la fabrication de portes et de cloisons à panneaux articulés. Le panneau comprend deux parois métalliques parallèles, opposées et espacées, une intérieure et une extérieure, assemblées mécaniquement le long de leurs rives inférieure et supérieure au moyen de rebords intégrées rabattues vers l'intérieur et se terminant par des éléments en forme de crochet conçus pour s'accrocher l'un à l'autre. Les rebords opposés se trouvent dans un même plan. Les éléments terminaux en forme de crochet délimitent, une fois imbriqués, une fente longitudinale relativement étroite par rapport à l'âme du panneau composite, que l'on peut obturer au moyen d'une garniture d'étanchéité. Du polyuréthanne moussé en place remplit l'espace entre les deux parois du panneau. Cette âme en polyuréthanne colle aux parois et permet d'obtenir, en combinaison avec les moyens d'assemblage mécanique ci-haut, un panneau rigide et robuste.
