COMPOSITE SHINGLES ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE A computer control for the manufacture of composite shingles wherein a felt is coated with coating asphalt and with granuales in a coating stage and the amount of coating applied is controlled by sensing the total weight of the felt and adjusting the amount of coating applied accordingly. The coated felt is then stored in a storage device and the amount of coated felt in the storage device is sensed and speed of the is adjusted to optimize same and maintain said storage device full while maintaining the required minimum amount of asphalt pick-up in the impregnation and coating stages.
