ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composite metallic crystalline article having good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and consisting of at least two adjacent single crystal components bonded by a bond which is essentially identical in chemical composition to at least one of the single crystal components. The adjacent components have the following relationships. They have identi- cal crystal lattice structures in the plane of the at least one bond, they have substantially identical lattice parameters, they have substantially identical crystallographic orientations, whereby the article is characterized by the absence of mobile high angle grain boundaries in the region of the at least one bond.
