A composite wafer carrier for holding and restraining circular semiconductor wafer disks during their transport, storage, and processing. The composite wafer carrier generally comprising an open top and bottom for insertion and removal of wafer disk, an upright front end member having an interface portion such as an H-bar, an upright back end member, and a pair of sidewall members with vertical sidewall slots extending rearwardly from the front end member to said back end member. At least one of said members separately molded and joined to the other members of the wafer carrier by cooperating engagement portions without external fasteners. The wafer carrier may be snapped together. A separate second interface at the back end member may be provided to allow the carrier to interface with equipment with the wafer top side up or inverted. The separately formed members permit different materials to be used or the same basic material with different formulations for example, for differing static dissapative characteristics.

Porte-tranche composite destiné à porter et à retenir des tranches circulaires de semiconducteur pendant leur transport, leur entreposage et leur traitement. Le porte-tranche composite se compose d'une partie supérieure et d'une partie inférieure ouvertes permettant l'insertion et l'extraction de la tranche circulaire, d'un élément avant vertical doté d'une section d'interface comme une barre en H, d'un élément vertical arrière, et d'une paire d'éléments latéraux verticaux comportant des fentes qui s'étendent vers l'arrière de l'élément avant jusqu'à l'élément arrière. Au moins un desdits éléments est moulé séparément et joint aux autres éléments du porte-tranche au moyen de parties s'emboîtant mutuellement sans attaches extérieures. Les éléments constituant le porte-tranche peuvent être encliquetés ensembles. Une deuxième interface séparée sur l'élément arrière du porte-tranche peut être posée afin de permettre l'interface avec de l'équipement, le dessus de la tranche étant orienté vers le haut ou inversé. La formation séparée des éléments permet l'utilisation de divers matériaux ou de diverses compositions d'un même matériau de base, ces diverses compositions pouvant, par exemple, avoir différentes caractéristiques de dissipation de l'électricité statique.
