An elastomeric material, which has a desiccating effect on its environment, comprising essentially: 100 phr of an elastomeric base material, 0-110 phr of a filler, and 20-100 phr of an inorganic desiccant. The elastomeric material is suitable for making stoppers for pharmaceutical vials for the containment of moisture-sensitive pharmaceutical materials.
