A B S T R A C T Disclosed is a composition and a method for covering the sump in cavities serving to store gaseous or liquid, non- aqueous substances, using a so-called geologically old crude oil to which is added a reactive component which combines with the functional groups thereof and blocks them. Particularly suitable reactive components are isocyanates and epoxy com- pounds.
