An aqueous liquid composition for cleaning and degreasing metal surfaces consists essentially of water and the following dissolved, stably dispersed, or both dissolved and stably dispersed components: A) alkali metal borate salts; B) boric acid in excess of any generated by reaction of anions of component A) with water; C) nonionic surfactant; and D) anionic and/or amphoteric surfactant.

L'invention concerne une composition aqueuse liquide conçue pour nettoyer et dégraisser des surfaces de métal. Cette composition est essentiellement constituée d'eau et des composants suivants, qu'ils soient dissous, à dispersion stable, ou à la fois dissous et à dispersion stable: A) des borates de métaux alcalins, B) de l'acide borique constitué par le surplus dudit acide produit par la réaction d'anions du composant A) avec de l'eau, C) un tensioactif non ionique, et D) un tensioactif anionique et/ou amphotère.
