COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR INHIBITING SCALE Abstract of the Disclosure The accumulation of scale in an aqueous system is inhibited by the addition of a composition comprising a copolymer of maleic acid or anhydride and styrene sulfonic acid, an organic phosphonate such as aminotri(methylene phosphonic acid) or hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid, and an aminocarboxylate chelating compound such as nitrilotriacetic acid or ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, or their water soluble salts.
