The invention provides methods and compositions for providing biocompatible surfaces to medical articles. In particular the invention provides biocompatible coatings with heparin activity. In some aspects, the biocompatible coatings of the invention are able to release a bioactive agent. The coatings can be formed using biostable or biodegradable polymeric material and photoreactive groups. The invention also provides methods for improving the quality of bioactive agent-containing coatings by performing pre- irradiation of biocompatible coating compositions.

L'invention porte sur des procédés et des compositions qui permettent d'obtenir des surfaces biocompatibles avec des dispositifs médicaux. En particulier, l'invention concerne des revêtements biocompatibles à activité d'héparine. Dans certains aspects, les revêtements biocompatibles de l'invention sont capables de libérer un agent bioactif. Les revêtements précités peuvent être formés à l'aide d'un matériau polymère biostable ou biodégradable et de groupes photoréactifs. L'invention se rapporte également à des procédés qui permettent d'améliorer la qualité de revêtements contenant un agent bioactif en procédant à une irradiation préablable des compositions de revêtements biocompatibles précitées.
