A composition for use in the physicochemical surface refinement of objects having surfaces of titanium, nickel, and alloys of each, normally in a vibratory mass finishing process, comprises the combination of sulfamic acid, ammonium bifluoride, and hydrogen peroxide. The maximum concentration of the peroxide is controlled to avoid inhibiting or arresting the reaction with the metal; maintaining a minimum concentration prevents excessive metal dissolution, pitting and other undesirable surface defects.

Composition pour le finissage physico-chimique en surface d'objets possédant des surfaces de titane, de nickel ou de leurs alliages, normalement par vibroabrasion de la masse; la composition est à base d'une combinaison d'acide sulfamique, de bifluorure d'ammonium et de peroxyde d'hydrogène. La concentration maximale du peroxyde est ajustée de façon à empêcher ou à arrêter la réaction avec le métal; le maintien d'une concentration minimale empêche la dissolution excessive de métal, la piqûre et d'autres effets indésirables en surface.
