Methods and compositions are disclosed wherein exogenous chemicals are applied to plants to generate a desired biological response. One embodiment of the present invention is a plant treatment composition that comprises (a) a water- soluble exogenous chemical and (b) an adjuvant amount of a solid inorganic particulate colloidal material. Another embodiment of the present invention is an aqueous concentrate plant treatment composition that comprises (a) a water- soluble exogenous chemical, (b) an aqueous diluent, (c) a surfactant component comprising one or more nonionic surfactant(s), and (d) an amount of a solid inorganic particulate colloidal material effective to stabilize the composition, said composition not exhibiting phase separation over a period of time T when stored in a closed container at a temperature in the range from about 15 ~C to about 30 ~C; T being in the range from about 1 hour to about 60 days; wherein the exogenous chemical and the surfactant are present at concentrations in the absolute or relative to each other such that, in the absence of the colloidal material, phase separation would occur during said period of time T.
Cette invention se rapporte à des procédés et à des compositions permettant l'application de produits chimiques exogènes à des plantes dans le but de produire une réaction biologique désirée. Une réalisation de l'invention consiste en une composition pour le traitement de plantes, qui comporte (a) un produit chimique exogène soluble dans l'eau et (b) une quantité adjuvante d'une matière colloïdale, particulaire, non organique et solide. Une autre réalisation de la présente invention est une composition concentrée aqueuse pour le traitement des plantes qui contient (a) un produit chimique exogène soluble dans l'eau, (b) un diluant aqueux, (c) un composant tensioactif comportant au moins un tensioactif non ionique, et (d) une quantité efficace d'une matière colloïdale, particulaire, non organique et solide servant à stabiliser la composition, ladite composition ne présentant pas de séparation de phases pendant une période T lorsqu'elle est stockée, dans un récipient fermé, à une température comprise entre 15 ·C environ et 30 ·C environ, T étant compris entre 1 heure environ et 60 jours environ, et ledit produit chimique exogène, tout comme le tension actif, étant présents en concentrations absolues ou relatives, l'une par rapport à l'autre, qui sont telles que, en l'absence de matière colloïdale, la séparation des phases se produirait au cours de la période T.
