Water-based liquid compositions for treating plastic moldings prior to the painting thereof contain as essential component at least 0.05 weight % of at least one selection from carboxylic acids that do not contain any terminal alkyl group in their molecular structure and hydroxycarboxylic acids that do not contain any terminal alkyl group in their molecular structure. The surface bleed of the internal additives present in plastic moldings can be inhibited by treatment with the water-based prepaint treatment compositions in accordance with the present invention. This results in an inhibition of timewise changes in the paint-receiving surface and thus stabilizes the paintability.

Des compositions liquides aqueuses, destinées au traitement de moulages en matière plastique préalable à leur peinture, contiennent comme élément essentiel au moins 0,05 % en poids d'au moins un acide carboxylique et d'au moins un acide hydroxy-carboxylique qui ne présentent dans leur structure moléculaire aucun groupe alkyle terminal. Le suintement en surface des additifs internes présents dans ces moulages de matière plastique peut être inhibé par ce traitement réalisé avec de telles compositions aqueuses, qui servent à appliquer un traitement préalable à la peinture, telles qu'inventées. On obtient ainsi l'inhibition de changements survenant avec le temps dans la surface devant recevoir la peinture et on stabilise l'aptitude à la peinture de cette surface.
