ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composition including from 5 to 50% by volume boron nitride particles, the balance being made of particulate material selected from lampblack, graphite, charcoal, fly ash, vermiculite, and mixtures thereof. This composition is par- ticularly useful as a covering material for molten metal in the direct chill casting of copper base alloys.
